I make one of a kind, truly unique custom crystalline glazed sinks only limited by imagination. Please scroll down past the pictures for more information
I love to do custom sinks! Sinks are the most looked at element in a bathroom but are often overlooked as a design element. The first thing that comes to mind when one thinks of a bathroom sink is the plain white commercially made porcelain that they grew up with. In reality the design possibilities are endless when it comes to a bathroom sink and are pretty much only limited by ones imagination.
I specialize in crystalline glazes where flower-like crystals are actually grown in the glaze while the kiln temperature is held steady for periods of time. Each crystalline glazed piece is truly one of a kind and I can never quite predict exactly how a piece will look. Please see "How They are Created" page to learn more about these unique glazes and how these sinks are made. When it comes to color palette the only limiting factor is chemistry but often I can find a way to do most colors/color combinations.
My sinks are wheel thrown, because of this the only shape I do is round (or sometimes oval if I modify the originally thrown round shape). I then could do one of three things depending on the preference of the customer. 1. I can leave the sink plain or add some kind of texture to the rim of the sink which will create visual interest. 2. I can add stampings to the rim and or basin of the sink. I create my own stamps from pretty much an solid black and white line .jpg image or make impression stamps form things I have collected. Examples of this can be seen in the above images such as the mermaids, the peacock border, the greek key design or the water horse sink with the infinity border. These stampings can be used to create seamless borders or in combination with other stampings to create pictorial scenes. 3. The third way I can create interesting one of a kind sinks is to create sculptural elements. Examples of this are pictured above with the salamander sink and the sink with the red crab rim. Creating sculptural elements can be quite time consuming but the finished effect is very dramatic.
I am happy to make prior to purchase (unless it is so unique and personal that it would not be marketable to anyone else). Prices generally ranges from $150-$500 depending on size and complexing of design. You can find more examples of my sinks as well my etsy store. I have a selection of ready to ship sinks as well as made to order examples of sinks I have done in the past. Please email me if you have any other questions or think you might be interested in a custom sink.
